Play Therapy
Play therapy is a child-centered, interactive approach that uses the natural language of play to help children express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. In sessions, we may use art, storytelling, games, or imaginative play to explore feelings and work through challenges in a way that feels engaging and supportive.
I primarily draw from Synergetic Play Therapy, developed by Lisa Dion, which emphasizes co-regulation, self-awareness, and attunement between therapist and child.
By guiding them through this process, we foster skills in emotional regulation, problem-solving, and self-awareness. I also work closely with parents to help them co-regulate with their children, creating a shared understanding and deeper connection. Together, this approach provides children and families with tools to navigate emotions with confidence and resilience.

Parent Support &
Family Counselling
In individual and family counselling, I work collaboratively with children, or youth, and their parents to address the unique needs and goals of each family.
-
I offer parent-only sessions, where I provide guidance on understanding and supporting their child’s development, helping parents build skills in co-regulation and responsive communication.
-
In family counseling, I facilitate open dialogue to help parents and children understand one another’s perspectives more fully. Whether navigating neurodiversity, family transitions, or behavioral challenges, this collaborative approach provides families with tools to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and create a supportive, accommodating home environment.
Group Therapy
Group therapy offers a shared space where children and families can connect with others facing similar challenges and experiences.
For children, group sessions provide a sense of belonging, helping them build social skills, empathy, and confidence in a supportive setting.
For parents, group sessions can foster community, allowing them to share insights, challenges, and strategies in a judgment-free space. Group therapy cultivates a sense of connection, reinforcing that each family’s journey is unique yet shared by others, creating resilience and support through community.
-
This art therapy group provides neurodivergent teens with a safe, judgment-free space to explore self-expression and connect with others through creativity. Here, the focus is on both the process of making art and using it as a means for connection, allowing participants to socialize and build relationships in ways that feel natural and supportive.
In addition to fostering creativity, this group emphasizes learning coping strategies, exploring what neurodivergence means for each individual, and building social connections that honor each participant’s unique communication style. This group is a space for community building, where neurodivergent teens can experience authentic connection without the cultural judgments and expectations they may encounter elsewhere. Together, we create an environment that celebrates individuality, supports personal growth, and builds a sense of belonging.

I will tailor my approach to your family’s needs and values, depending on your goals and the reasons that bring you into the counselling room.
There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach. I usually incorporate a variety of techniques to tailor to your child’s and your needs, while focusing on supporting you through whatever challenge there is at hand.
I made a comic with an introduction to play therapy for children.
